Two words to News Corp… Fuck you!
rant
News Corp is at it again, trying to pull an ABC on Cablevision.
Well, this doesn’t came as a surprise since other TV providers like Time Warner and the rip-off Dish Network are having the same problems with Broadcasting companies like Fox. It seems that Fox, owned by News Corp. wants more money from Cablevision when they already make a lot of money. Now they want to pull Fox Network from Cablevision tomorrow in protest. It makes me wonder, how low could News Corp. go? I bet they needed the 80 million dollars to support the GOP campaign and the Tea Party, so they needed to raise the transmission fees for Cablevision.
I’m with the providers with this one. It seems that the broadcast companies are becoming too greedy. The increased broadcasting costs are only going to get passed down to the customers, which always seem to get shafted.
Also, don’t say that it only happens to cable providers, it can happen to any TV provider. So, if they think I am going to switch away from Cablevision, the answer is no. In the end of the day, it’s the same old shit and satellite providers rip you off more than cable providers. So why bother?
Too bad this didn’t affect Fox News…
Crunchyroll felt like trolling people with their private viewing of 5 Centimeters per Second
Its true that ADV lost the licensed to the most beautiful movie that I reviewed yesterday. Just recently, Crunchyroll obtain the rights to redistribute it with a re-do of the whole dub. However, someone at AnimeSuki became dissatisfied when Crunchyroll decided to be an ass and ruin the ending of the movie.
One sour note – believe it or not, Viz Cinema cut off the screening in the middle of “One More Time, One More Chance”! Seriously – with about 5 minutes left, the house lights came up and some moron from Crunchyroll started telling everyone that they were going to cut the movie short so that they could start the VIP reception in the lobby.
Because of their dicky move, I decided to boycott Crunchyroll for this despicable act… I mean, such a good movie doesn’t deserve this kind of treatment. It was also disrespectful towards Makoto Shinkai who made this masterpiece. They owe everyone an apology for doing this…
Then again, it doesn’t matter anyway because I don’t like Crunchyroll and I don’t like their practices of locking users into the flash player or the iphone app for streaming without the option to download the episode to any device.
Visual Novel company starts cracking down… Where is the US copy of the game?
I have read Janette’s post on the “Witch Hunt” crackdown of Umineko and it begs to differ.
Where can I get a legal, translated copy of Umineko?
There is none… The only way to get the game is hope to find a copy online, import it and apply the translation. However, wouldn’t it be easier for the visual novel company to license the game to a company like MangaGamers and have them sell a legal copy of the VN with an official translation? That is a pipedream since most visual novel companies are now hostile to foreigners because of the idiotic attack by (un)Feminism Now on Eroge Games… Blame them for the companies reluctance to license the game to other companies with localized translations because we will never see a legal alternative for VNs… if ever.
Also, blame PeTA too…
More Anime Industry Angst… “Black Butler” Author directs the blame at the Consumer… Great!
Doesn’t these posts I written in the past sound familiar? Anime is dead? BULLSHIT! , Chris Beveridge, Asinine remarks and the Anime Mafia and RAEGing about the Anime Industry… doesn’t solve anything. I wouldn’t be so angry if the author of “Black Butler”, Yana Toboso didn’t blame the consumer… but she did.
She does make some valid points and we all know that the artists, production team, etc get hardly anything after the production is all done and over with. What I don’t agree with is shoving the blame to the fans and consumers since it will always turn out bad.
The problem these days is that the industry directs the blame on fansubs and scanlatons when DVDs costs 40 buck a pop for 7 episodes or 10-12 dollar a pop for one volume of manga. Do you expect a high school or college student to afford this? No… Even though there are streaming services for Anime, the sub/picture (if you aren’t subscribed) quality is still rather poor, doesn’t allow me to view on any portable device without an internet connection and its limited to select regions. Top that off, there is no viable legal manga site that allows people to read it legally. How are you going to solve the problem when there is no solution that will work for anyone? If not, you have no right to complain because ultimately, you are going to get the fans enraged and they won’t buy your products… simple as that…
Also, I’m not going to buy every anime out there just so I can watch it. The only situation I will buy the DVD is when I like the series and want to own it or when there is a licensed series I want to watch badly. Otherwise, I’m not going to make a blind purchase just because it’s immoral. I just don’t want to waste money on a series that I probably won’t like.
Lastly, the manga-kas should consider ditching the middleman and self publish! By self publishing, they can get more money they deserve and not have it taken by the middleman…
Overall, her misguided rant was stupid… I would also like to point out that sharing is not stealing. If I share a cookie with a friend, would I consider that stealing? Absolutely not.
Miyazaki’s hatred for touchscreen technology, not just IPads and tablets
What I said on Twitter:
I like Miyazaki’s movies, but he is full of shit when it comes to his hate for technology. His remarks about this is very idiotic.
Just recently, he made an idiotic comment on touchscreen devices like the iPad. This is what he said:
For me, there is no feeling of admiration or no excitement whatsoever. It’s disgusting. On trains, the number of those people doing that strange masturbation-like gesture is multiplying.
I think this can apply to any touchscreen devices, not just an iPad like those haters love to bash. Drag in the touchscreen Blackberry devices and Android that uses the same gestures. There, all smart phone users are doing masturbation-like gestures that he loves to put it.
I love his works and appreciate it that he still animate his movies and shows the traditional way. However, his technophobia disgusts me like his views on modern anime and manga, which he implies that all of them as shit. Although technology can sometimes distract us in our lives (such as texting on your phone while driving or being addicted to MMORPGs), they are very useful devices and essential in today’s society. Miyazaki needs to accept that technology is here to stay and lighten up. If he doesn’t, next he is going to say that using the Wii/Playatation 3 motion controls is like doing a sex-like motion.
Response regarding the Keep The Beats! Album Review
I have received some backlash from one person. I did not approve that comment since it violated the comment policy. However, I am going to clear some things up to defend my position on the whole issue.
Grammar
I know my writing may not be the greatest, but I’m trying to improve on that. Being a big Grammar Nazi is rude and you are just showing yourself as a big troll. Anime Blogs is informal writing and never meant to be professional unless you are writing for the big boys like Random Curiosity, Sea Slugs or Anime News Newark. I try my hardest to reread and edit/proofread my post before publishing. Next time, I will try harder so that it wouldn’t sound so awkward.
Little Braver and the other three insert songs
I did make a mistake and I will fix that by adding it into the review when I have the time. I will also add more detailed analysis for the other three insert songs since I was strapped for time.
About the remark I made about Houkago Tea Time.
You know that the remark I made was an opinion and you don’t have to agree with me. I felt this way because Girls Dead Monster had not convinced me by their performance. Toyasaki Aki may be an average singer, but I rather listen to that then the sub-par singing from LiSA and marina. Keep in mind that Houkago Tea Time does not only consist of only Toyasaki Aki. There are other singers like Hikasa Youko in the group, which the commenter failed to mention.
This pretty much wraps up on what I have to say about the whole thing. The commenter is free to post again when I revise the review. As long his comment does not turn out to be from a complete asshole, I will reconsider.
AniBlog Tourney lost all credibility
It was fun while it lasted, but now it’s a shitty popularity contest. I would have thought the blog that have the best content would win. I guess not in this case…
Oh dear lord…
Look we have here:
I’ve looked into Melative..it’s not very intuitive. Dunno where to start. MelScrobblerX doesn’t support Quicktime X. Sounds like a huge bust
Dude, Quicktime sucks for Fansubs… Unless you like waiting for the whole MKV to load and flaky sub support, go right ahead… Use a better media player, such as MPlayer OS X Extended that have better fansub and MKV support.
And also, Melative!=MAL Nuff said.
No Comments in any Posts = Wimp
I came across a few anime blogs that don’t allow commenting st all. What are they afraid of? Comments that they don’t agree with? Come on… Get real. If you don’t allow comments, it just proves that you can’t take criticism and therefore, you are a wimp.
