Plans to Create a Mascot Character

Back in January 2017, I planned on creating a Mascot character which will serve as my blog’s (Chikorita157’s Anime Blog) main identity and replace all those header images. Of course, the idea didn’t go anywhere since I do not have the funding for it. A year later and some crypto mining on the side later, I think I have some funds saved up to make this happen.

Recently, I created the concept character design in Custom Maid 3D2 since the expansive character customization can at least give me the an idea for an initial character design. The final character design will look similar as in the face, hair and figure, but her outfit will differ in the final design. I plan to use some reference material for the outfit. It can be outfits worn by other characters as a reference for the final design.

Aside from that, I have to vectorize the initial 2D Anime-style design before sharing them, so there aren’t any pictures yet. However, I spent the time to write the initial character profile, which I will share.

Background:

Hanamori Rie is a cat girl who comes from the Kansai region. She is born from a middle-class family. Both of her parents work in technology and have degrees in Computer Science. Rie is currently a freshman college student majoring in Information Technology. She doesn’t have many friends since she is shy, except a few, mostly with other girls around her age. She loves using her MacBook Pro. On her free time, she plays video games on Playstation 4 and the Nintendo Switch.

Discussing the Future – Planning a new theme for Chikorita157’s Anime Blog

As I approach my three years of blogging, I feel that something eventually has to change and that is the theme. Back in 2010, I have redesigned the blog’s theme. I worked hours messing with the CSS and code with the Thematic Framework to get the theme I have now. Of course, I tacked on many minor changes and it got pretty messy as a result. Also, I want a new look since the 2nd AniBlogTourney might be happening next year and I want to prepare.

Going forward, I’m planning on replacing the current theme and overhauling it. Since many people are using Twenty Eleven, Twenty Ten, or the many free themes out there, I am planning on investing a few dollars and making a child theme off the Genesis Framework. Compared to Thematic, this is more supported and has a bit more features. Like the former, I plan to get my hands dirty and dive into the CSS/PHP to get a new layout and color scheme. Since I’m going to be busy from now until December, work on it won’t start until Thanksgiving Break. Once I start working on it, I will have a test site previewing what the site will look like so I can get feedback. Hopefully it will be up before the new year. So, look forward to the changes up ahead.
