My thoughts on the whole thing about slice of life: Pizza is much more delicious than life, especially if it’s done Chicago style.

Nuff said. No explanation needed as life itself is very hard to explain… there is lots to say about it, but no clear definition.
Note: Not the real response since I will be working on an editorial on Slice of Life…
(Edit: funny enough, this post at Ani-Nouto had the same title as my tl;dr response to the whole situation.)
Also, the Whole Lowdown of the whole situation.
I saw this particular post comparing various Anime character’s personalities to different Pokemon made by Yumeka. I had to reply to it since I have the obsession of naming Pokemon with Anime character’s names. Here is my take on it:
If you haven’t noticed in our battle we had a few months back, I usually name my Pokemon by favorite Anime characters, although sometimes it does not match the species I choose…
For instance, I name my Shiny Dragonite Kyou (Kyou Fujibayshi, Clannad) since she is a spunky girl and a tsundere, my Espeon as Kotomi (Kotomi Ichinose, Clannad) not only because it matches her hair color, but she is a genius and I assume Psychic pokemon are intelligent.
There are some that are named randomly, such as my Milotic, Nagisa (Nagisa Furukawa, Clannad) or my Vaporeon, Nayuki (Nayuki Minase, Kanon, which is pretty ironic since Vaporeon isn’t that fast)… This reminds me, I haven’t played Pokemon ever since I came back from vacation. 😮
Thats right… I name my characters from Key, mostly. Also, I do have some characters that are not named from Key… This includes:
Kureha (Sora no Woto) – Staraptor
Misaki (Kaichou wa Maidsama) – Milotic
Thats about it… for now… Maybe I should name other Pokemon from different Anime besides from Key… I wonder what Pokemon Kaoru would be… hehehe….

When I watch an anime, I don’t look at the little details like sound or animation quality to determine my love for a series in the end, it all just really comes down to just entertainment. If something really spikes my interest, I feel it, and it makes me want to watch more. Now this moment of perfect entertainment, I have yet to find in any anime. But it’s not like I’ve never experienced this emotion because if we take a look at American Television, when it comes to things like Breaking Bad or Supernatural, I know that this is the best I’ve seen from everything else. Even with manga I managed to find my own perfect one, which is Fruits Basket.
It seems that these days, people just look too much in stuff like Story and Animation. Amagami SS is probably the best example of a rather generic harem anime with average animation, but enjoyable girls and over the top kissing in certain spots. I guess I don’t think about the minor details when it comes to certain genres, but other genres like Drama, I take a better look at story along with animation and music…
From my top favorite anime, the Key Adaptations are petty much up the along with Haruhi.
Also, this post kinda reminded me of the post Yumeka made on how people decide on what Anime to watch… Pretty much the same question Lostty asked in this post.
Reblogging is fun… do it in the same manner as アニ・ノート and profit!
This post from Desu ex Machina pretty much sums up the idiotic behavior that comes from Hirano Aya Fanboys who don’t get their way…
Haven’t I heard something like this somewhere in the fandom before? I guess not, but thats besides the point. Rabid Fanboys are just annoying and think that their object of worship, in this case Hirano Aya is far more important compared to their basic needs. They really need to smell the roses and realize this is nothing important. Shit like this always happens in real life. There is no wonder why Lindsay Lohan landed herself in jail for avoiding her probation.
Lastly, if Hirano fans are going to destroy their merchandise, seriously… put more effort into doing it. Draw funny shit like a mustache or even some glasses. Just scribbling over it or breaking the disc is just lame…
P.S.: I am by no means a fan of Hirano Aya’s singing. Her singing is just… horrible!

While the closing up of OneManga is a good thing since they don’t really translate anything and just upload iffy quality scanlations, it doesn’t leave us with a viable alternative. Without a legal alternative, they are pretty much shooting themselves on their foot. Surprisingly, there is one in the development called “OpenManga,” but I don’t know how good it will turn out since it’s not open to the public yet (and it’s still unknown if it will be region locked or not).
Also, it won’t address the availability of unlicensed manga. There are still many titles that are obscure, too old or risky for companies to consider licensing. As long these companies don’t address this, most have to use a bit more difficult channels such as FTP or IRC to get them, thus lessening the incentive to read manga.
Like I have said in my editorial I wrote a month ago about Scanlations and the State of the Manga Industry, “Manga is not a right. It is a privilege..” If Manga Industry wants to win customers, they need to prop up a legal alternative that is like Crunchyroll that will allow users to read manga from legal sources and allow subscriptions for immediate access with the ability to download a translated chapter/volume to ereader devices or computers for offline reading at a reasonable and affordable price. If these services end up being region locked or have DRM on their downloads, the service in no doubt is going to fail… miserably..
As always, the unlicensed stuff is going to be shafted the most… but there is always other channels… However, they are more difficult to the average Joe, which make them less likely to do so.
What I said on Twitter:
I like Miyazaki’s movies, but he is full of shit when it comes to his hate for technology. His remarks about this is very idiotic.
Just recently, he made an idiotic comment on touchscreen devices like the iPad. This is what he said:
For me, there is no feeling of admiration or no excitement whatsoever. It’s disgusting. On trains, the number of those people doing that strange masturbation-like gesture is multiplying.
I think this can apply to any touchscreen devices, not just an iPad like those haters love to bash. Drag in the touchscreen Blackberry devices and Android that uses the same gestures. There, all smart phone users are doing masturbation-like gestures that he loves to put it.
I love his works and appreciate it that he still animate his movies and shows the traditional way. However, his technophobia disgusts me like his views on modern anime and manga, which he implies that all of them as shit. Although technology can sometimes distract us in our lives (such as texting on your phone while driving or being addicted to MMORPGs), they are very useful devices and essential in today’s society. Miyazaki needs to accept that technology is here to stay and lighten up. If he doesn’t, next he is going to say that using the Wii/Playatation 3 motion controls is like doing a sex-like motion.
I have received some backlash from one person. I did not approve that comment since it violated the comment policy. However, I am going to clear some things up to defend my position on the whole issue.
Grammar
I know my writing may not be the greatest, but I’m trying to improve on that. Being a big Grammar Nazi is rude and you are just showing yourself as a big troll. Anime Blogs is informal writing and never meant to be professional unless you are writing for the big boys like Random Curiosity, Sea Slugs or Anime News Newark. I try my hardest to reread and edit/proofread my post before publishing. Next time, I will try harder so that it wouldn’t sound so awkward.
Little Braver and the other three insert songs
I did make a mistake and I will fix that by adding it into the review when I have the time. I will also add more detailed analysis for the other three insert songs since I was strapped for time.
About the remark I made about Houkago Tea Time.
You know that the remark I made was an opinion and you don’t have to agree with me. I felt this way because Girls Dead Monster had not convinced me by their performance. Toyasaki Aki may be an average singer, but I rather listen to that then the sub-par singing from LiSA and marina. Keep in mind that Houkago Tea Time does not only consist of only Toyasaki Aki. There are other singers like Hikasa Youko in the group, which the commenter failed to mention.
This pretty much wraps up on what I have to say about the whole thing. The commenter is free to post again when I revise the review. As long his comment does not turn out to be from a complete asshole, I will reconsider.
It was fun while it lasted, but now it’s a shitty popularity contest. I would have thought the blog that have the best content would win. I guess not in this case…
