Why I Anime Blog in General

July 14, 2011 by chikorita157 2 Comments

Aorii asked a relatively interesting question:

Question for the anibloggers, especially the episodic ones: what drives you to blog? if there’s one style one can identify your blog by (especially from the others), what would it be? what made you choose that style of blogging?

I answered:

While I mostly write about what I usually watch, I only write my thoughts on what I seen in the episode and analyze parts of the episodes I find particularly interesting. I don’t write a full synopsis or dump a lot of screenshots because I feel it’s pointless and I assume most people will already watched it, so I don’t see a point. For editorials, I get my ideas from reading other anime blogs or if something comes up that drives me to write a post… So basically, I take a mixed approach.

For me, I choose to blog about anime for various reasons. First reason is to practice my writing since it’s not the greatest and by writing posts, I can improve on it as times go on. The second reason is to share my passion and thoughts about Anime as a whole. Third and last reason, is the social factor. Sharing your thoughts allows for discussion. In a way, anime blogging has allowed me to network with other bloggers and I have become more open.

From this, I am already thinking about writing an editorial on the social aspects of watching anime and anime blogging with my personal experiences in the coming weeks… It’s something to think about as it’s something important to the Anime Fandom in general.

Of course, there are many answers to this question that are rather interesting, so take a look!

Kokidokom is down… again!

October 11, 2010 by chikorita157 Leave a Comment

The last time I saw Kokidokom going down was like a whole month and a week ago as told by Author of Ani-Nouto. Unfortunately, the site went down again today as a result of BlueHost suspension. The suspension of Kokidokom’s host brought down anime blogs like Simplicity, Anime Princess, Hey Say Anime, Anime^2, and Metanorn.

When the sites grow bigger, shared hosting may not be feasible anymore. In some cases, site suspension can be the shared host’s fault depending on their strict policy on resource usage even if they provide “Unlimited” bandwidth and storage. Zzeroparticle of Anime Instrumentality Blog experienced this for several months when his host complained about the excessive RAM usage. The strange thing is that his site was only generating 400 visitors per day. The number of visitors that size can’t possibly generate a very high CPU and RAM usage even with a caching plugin enabled. Eventually, he moved the site to WPWebHost and haven’t had any problems ever since.

Perhaps Kokidokom needs to switch to a more reliable host to get rid of this suspension problem once and for all. After all, BlueHost were the ones caused havoc to anime blogs when they took down Hinano’s blog for instance.

Update: Kokidokom is now back up.

Sad Reality, Anime Blogs Fading Away

October 4, 2010 by chikorita157 2 Comments

Just recently, Author aka Pete Zaitcev of Ani-Nouto have posted a good number of blogs that died in July… and the number of blogs that died troubled me since typically, anime blogs have a trend of fading away with a good number of blogs staying alive for a long period of time.

Come to think of it, many of the blogs on Notcliche faded away, besides myself, Notcliche and Sun Shattered Glass, most of the Anime related blogs are pretty much inactive with Randotaku adding to the list of inactive blogs on the network. Its pretty tragic to see blogs fade away like that… but then again, theres always new Anime Blogs that takes it place, so I don’t see a problem… the circle of life in the AniBlogosphere, the strongest will have the less likelihood of fading away.

Also, congrats to Major Arcana for another year of good blogging (they turn 4 and 1 respectively). Let’s hope the AniBlogosphere have a bright future.
